Hello Lovelies! I know for those of you in the Texas area, you are still estatic about Blue Bell being back! I may or may not have eaten a serving or three everyday since its been back. Yes I rushed to the store as it opened last Monday to make sure I got a coveted gallon before it sold out. Good thing too because there were only 6 containers left of Cookies ‘n Cream. Six containers!… Thanks Kroger employees for helping yourselves prior to opening, I saw that near empty shelf.
For those of you outside of Texas who eat the lesser brands of ice cream, you may not truly understand what the great Ice Cream Drought of 2015 has meant to the South. We basically didn’t have any ice cream for the large part of the summer. Luckily, and unluckily, in Houston it is summer for most of the year. So the ice cream has returned just in time for a fabulous ice cream social to cool down our August! Now I’ll get the actual social later in the week, but what does any good ice cream social need? Dipped cones… and dipped bowls… and why stop there! You can dip all kinds of stuff in chocolate and top them with ice cream.
Dipped Ice Cream Cones and Bowls
1 Box of sugar cones
1 Box of waffle bowls
1 Package of chocolate melting candy (I love Ghirardelli brand)
1 Package of white chocolate melting candy
Toppings, such as Chopped pretzels, sprinkles, chopped nuts, mini-marshmallows, ect..
Melt one type of chocolate first, per package directions. If you’re using the cubes of melting chocolate, I usually do about 3 blocks in a cereal bowl. Meanwhile put each topping on a small plate (like a tea saucer size). Take each of the cones and bowls that you would like in that color of chocolate, and dip the rim of the cone in it. Quickly try to drip off any excess chocolate and roll it through the toppings of your choice. Repeat the process with one cone at a time, and as quickly as possible before the chocolate cools in the bowl.
The repeat with the other chocolate until all cones are dipped.
Stay tuned for the actual party set up, it is not to be missed!
