Hello Lovely! Can I again say how I have missed writing here? It’s again been too long of a gap since I’ve been able to snatch the laptop and write. My husband is finishing his last class online and needless to say asking to take the laptop during his nightly study sessions has not been an option. On the bright side with the time change, I’m feeling like I can start writing in the mornings before I go to work and he will finally be completely finished next month. All that being said, I have some new things happening to tell you all about, but all in good time.
Not sure how your weekends are being spent lately but mine this week involved multiple trips to Lowe’s, making yarn pom-poms, and sipping on cider since we’ve had surprisingly nice Fall weather (Out of my new favorite Anthro cup). No we’re still not all settled in the new house, pictures are on the floor, curtains are yet to be hung, some boxes are still needing to be unpacked, and we have yet to replace the fence out back the HOA built when the neighborhood started 15 years ago. All in due time though ergo we’re taking the time to work on pom-pom balls to make Sugar and Cloth’s DIY tree topper (Seriously you should check in out) for this year. I figure I can’t make it all happen at once and while we have done a lot of work already, the finishing touches can be spread out a bit. I’m sure if I hung the pictures I’d turn around and want them all moved by the next day anyway. I have a theory that if I stare at them and the wall enough, it will just come to me exactly where to put them all and in what arrangement. We shall see I suppose, with there still being a good amount of disorder and us really trying to feel like we’re at home now I only knew of one thing that helps me this time of year, mulled apple cider. My mom always made mulled cider when anyone (including kids home from college) visited in the fall. We played with the portions on this but I wanted to create a recipe for 2 people to drink cider instead of a whole gallon because I can’t seem to find one anywhere else. I’m not sure about you but I don’t want to use up half a gallon when by the third cup your having to force another sugary cup down so it doesn’t waste. Cider is so nice and homey but for it to be a treat I wanted to be able to fix some up for just the two of us. No worries though if you have a bigger family, you can always multiply this recipe to serve as many people as you’d like.
Mulled Apple Cider
Serves two servings (1.5 Cups each)
2 Cloves (Ground up with a Mortar and Pestle)
1 Tsp Allspice
1 Tsp Cinnamon
1 Tsp Sweetener ( I use Truvia but Sugar would also be fine)
3 Cups of cider
Optional: Orange slices and cinnamon sticks for garnish
Mix all ingredients together in a small cup, add 3/4 a tsp. of spices to the cider in a kettle. Bring cider to a boil, then lower to simmer for an additional 10 minutes. Serve with a fresh orange slice and a cinnamon stick. Enjoy!
There is enough spices for 10 cups so store remaining spices in tightly sealed container for up to 2 weeks
